It has become glaringly obvious to any person who has been paying even casual attention to the current state of the United States that our current form of government no longer achieves its purposes. Many have rightly observed that this is because the principles upon which the Republic was ostensibly founded were either (1) not fully realized in the Constitution or its amendments and (2) eroded by those seeking the accumulation and maintenance of power. Accordingly, we at the Center believe that it is past time that the Constitution of 1787 be superseded by a new Constitution; one with provisions better suited for a government “of the people, by the people, for the people.”
